Today, Congresswoman Karen Bass (D-CA), Chair of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security and Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), held a press conference with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, to introduce H.R. 1585, the bipartisan 2019 reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). The landmark legislation, enacted in 1994, responds to our nation's crisis of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

Today, House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) unveiled an investigation by the House Judiciary Committee into the alleged obstruction of justice, public corruption, and other abuses of power by President Trump, his associates, and members of his Administration. As a first step, the Committee has served document requests to 81 agencies, entities, and individuals believed to have information relevant to the investigation.

Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, spoke on the House floor in support of H.R. 1112, the Enhanced Background Checks Act:

I am pleased that today we are considering H.R. 1112, the "Enhanced Background Checks Act."

Yesterday, the House passed H.R. 8, the "Bipartisan Background Checks Act," an important bill to expand our national firearms background check system to include virtually all gun transfers.
