Washington, D.C. (October 1, 2026)— Rep. Jamie Raskin, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, and Rep. George Whitesides called on the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC) to formally investigate the Trump Administration’s use of taxpayer dollars to produce and air ads promoting President Trump in the weeks before the midterm elections. The lawmakers are seeking a full accounting of what the ads cost, who paid for them and whether officials broke federal law.

Washington, D.C. (September 30, 2026)—Rep. Jamie Raskin, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, launched an investigation into Amazon, Google, Meta and Oracle over their use of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) that prevent local government officials from disclosing essential information about how proposed data center projects could affect their communities and constituents. Restrictive NDAs surrounding proposed data center projects prevent Americans from understanding the costs associated with such projects, including how much water and energy would be required to sustain the data center and whether that could increase their utility bills. In letters to the four tech giants, Ranking Member Raskin demanded answers about agreements that conceal critical details of proposed developments, including taxpayer-funded incentives and special carveouts from tax, environmental and zoning laws.

Washington, D.C. (September 29, 2026)—Rep. Jamie Raskin, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, pressed Apple to independently review its decision to remove ICEBlock and similar apps from the App Store after the company confirmed that it acted following pressure from the Trump Department of Justice (DOJ). The apps allow users to report Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity and document encounters with federal immigration authorities in their communities.
