Opening Statement
Introductory Remarks
Before I begin my opening remarks, I first would like to congratulate our colleague, Tom Marino, on his new role as chairman of the Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law. I look forward to working with him and hope that he will continue the spirit of collegiality that his predecessor, Spencer Bachus, exemplified during his tenure as chairman of this subcommittee.

But let me be clear: the compromise bill before us today is a significant improvement over the status quo. And it is a good bill.
