Washington, D.C. –Today, the Democratic Members of the Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial and Administrative Law, led by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and Antitrust Subcommittee Chairman David N. Cicilline (D-RI), sent a letter to Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Chairman Joseph Simons requesting documents regarding the FTC's investigation of Covidien's acquisition of rival medical device manufacturer Newport Medical Instruments.

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, a bicameral group of Democratic Members of Congress submitted an amicus curiae brief to the Supreme Court in support of Pennsylvania's lawsuit challenging a Trump Administration rule that would undermine access to birth control for women across the country. Since the Affordable Care Act's birth control benefit went into effect in 2012, over 60 million women nationwide now have access to birth control at no cost through their insurance.

Cicilline (D-RI), and Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ) introduced the COVID-19 Price Gouging Prevention Act to protect American consumers from price gouging during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Washington, D.C. –Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship Chair Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) sent a letter to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Acting Director Matthew T. Albence requesting that ICE take more aggressive measures to combat the spread of COVID-19 in detention facilities, including release of individuals who pose no threat to public safety or national security.

Washington, D.C. – Fourteen House Committee Chairs sent a letter to Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Acting Director Russell Vought today requesting an immediate extension of public comment periods, hearings and meetings due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The Committee leaders asked that OMB direct agencies to extend public comment periods by at least 45 days beyond the end of the declared national emergency.
