Washington, D.C. –Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) delivered the following opening remarks during a markup of H.R. 5038, the Farm Workforce Modernization Act of 2019:

"With today's markup, the House Judiciary Committee is taking an important step towards finally addressing an issue of critical national importance: the growing labor challenges on America's farms.

Yesterday, the Trump Administration published two notices in the federal register which would implement the "Asylum Cooperative Agreement" or "Safe Third Country Agreement" signed with Guatemala in July. In response, Jerrold Nadler, Chair of the House Committee on the Judiciary, and Zoe Lofgren, Chair of the Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship, released the following statement:

Today, House Antitrust Subcommittee Chair David N. Cicilline (RI-01) and Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (NY-10) introduced The Affordable Prescriptions for Patients Through Promoting Competition Act of 2019 (H.R. 5133) to prohibit pharmaceutical companies from engaging in anticompetitive "product hopping." The bill is scheduled to be marked up in the Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) today announced the Committee will hold a markup on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 of H.R. 3884, the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement Act (MORE Act), comprehensive legislation to decriminalize marijuana at the federal level, reassess marijuana convictions, and invest in local communities. Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) introduced the companion bill in the Senate.
