"H.R. 2873, the 'Affordable Prescriptions for Patients Through Promoting Competition Act of 2021' is bipartisan legislation introduced by Antitrust Subcommittee Chairman Cicilline and Ranking Member Ken Buck to end an anti-competitive practice known as product hopping.

"H.R. 2891, the 'Preserve Access to Affordable Generics and Biosimilars Act,' is a bipartisan bill that I introduced along with Representative Ken Buck to prohibit anti-competitive settlements, also called pay-for-delay agreements, that block access to affordable prescription drugs.

"H.R. 1693, the 'Eliminating a Quantifiably Unjust Application of the Law Act of 2021' or the 'EQUAL Act' would eliminate the unjust sentencing disparity between crack cocaine and powder cocaine offenses. This long overdue bipartisan legislation would allow defendants who were previously convicted or sentenced for a federal offense involving crack cocaine to petition for a sentence reduction.

Washington, D.C. - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 1693, the EQUAL Act, bipartisan legislation that eliminates the unjust sentencing disparity between crack cocaine and powder cocaine offenses, by a vote of 361-66. The legislation was favorably reported out of the House Judiciary Committee on July 21st and sent to the full House for consideration.
Washington, D.C. - Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) sent a letter to Treasury Department Secretary Janet Yellen urging her to take all appropriate steps to prevent state's from misusing American Rescue Plan (ARP) funding to construct new prisons. The letter comes as the state of Alabama begins a special session to consider a proposal that allocates $400 million from the state's ARP funds to build at least 3 new prisons in the state.
