Washington, D.C. – Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) delivered the following opening remarks during a markup of H.R. 1186, the Keep Americans Safe Act:
"H.R. 1186, the 'Keep Americans Safe Act,' introduced by our colleague, the Gentleman from Florida, Mr. Ted Deutch, would prohibit importing, selling, manufacturing, transferring, or possessing large capacity magazines that can hold more than ten rounds of ammunition.

"H.R. 4018 is a modest, but important, bill to address an inadvertent drafting error in the Second Chance Act that has prevented elderly and terminally ill offenders who qualify for early release under a pilot program for compassionate release from receiving credit for the 'good conduct time' they have accrued while in custody.

New York, N.Y.– Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) announced that he is calling the House Judiciary Committee back into session during the Congressional District work period to address the issue of gun violence prevention. On September 4, 2019 at 10:00 am, the House Judiciary Committee will mark up a series of bills to help respond to the growing problem of gun violence -- H.R. 1186, the Keep Americans Safe Act; H.R. 1236, the Extreme Risk Protection Order Act of 2019, amended to also include provisions from H.R.
Washington, D.C. – Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) announced the Committee has served subpoenas on Corey Lewandowski and Rick Dearborn for public testimony on September 17, 2019. These witnesses were involved in President Trump's extensive efforts to obstruct the Special Counsel's investigation.
Chairman Nadler released the following statement:
"As the Attorney General stated, 'Mr. Epstein's death raises serious questions that must be answered.' We agree, and therefore ask that you provide responses to the following questions concerning this incident."
