Washington, D.C. - Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) delivered the following remarks, as prepared, on the House floor in support of H.J.Res. 17, a joint resolution that would remove the deadline for ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA):

"H.J. Res. 17 is long overdue legislation to ensure that the Equal Rights Amendment can finally become the 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution. The House passed identical legislation last Congress on a bipartisan basis, and I hope it will do so again today.

Washington, D.C. - Today, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1652, the VOCA Fix to Sustain the Crime Victims Fund Act of 2021, bipartisan legislation introduced by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) that supports vital victim service programs by preventing future cuts to already diminished federal victim service grants. The bill passed by a vote of 384-38.

Washington, D.C. - Today, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1651, the COVID-19 Bankruptcy Relief Extension Act of 2021, legislation introduced by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) that extends the temporary bankruptcy relief provisions granted by the CARES Act for an additional year. The bill passed by a bipartisan vote of 399-14.

"H.R. 1651, the 'COVID-19 Bankruptcy Relief Extension Act of 2021,' is bipartisan legislation to temporarily extend until March 27, 2022 the COVID-19 bankruptcy relief provisions enacted as part of the CARES Act and the December 2020 omnibus appropriations bill.
