Today, House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship Chair Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) released the following statement on the resignation of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kirstjen Nielsen:
"Throughout her tenure as Homeland Security Secretary, Kirstjen Nielsen consistently refused to take responsibility for her actions. From her cruel and un-American family separation policy, which to this day she claims never existed, to her desire to cut off asylum seekers from coming to the United States, it was certainly time for her step down.
Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) sent a letter to Attorney General William Barr to raise concerns about his handling of Special Counsel Mueller's report and to call for any summaries that may have been prepared by the Special Counsel to be released to the public.
Today, the House passed H.R. 1585, the bipartisan Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2019 (VAWA), by a vote of 263-158.
