Raskin Asks White House to Explain 22 Specialists, Unusual Testing, and Withholding of Cognitive Assessment

Washington, D.C. (June 18, 2026)—Today, Rep. Jamie Raskin, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, wrote to White House Physician Captain Sean Barbabella seeking information regarding President Donald Trump’s unexplained symptoms and frequent hospital visits after a Washington Post report revealed that the President is being seen by an eye-popping 22 medical specialists.

“It has apparently taken twenty-two medical specialists to pronounce President Donald Trump in ‘excellent health.’ While we are glad that the President has garnered a positive report and enjoys access to such a massive and robust medical care team, we are deeply concerned about why such a large team is now necessary. The White House has so far refused to say who all those doctors were, what are the specialties they practice in, and most importantly why a routine physical for a man supposedly in ‘excellent health’ required a medical team nearly the size of a major league baseball team roster,” wrote Ranking Member Raskin.

On May 26, 2026, the president spent three hours at Walter Reed Medical Center, in his third recent visit to the hospital. Three days later, the White House declared that he “remains in excellent health” and mentioned that he was seen by a stunning 22 physicians at that visit.

The White House did not, however, explain why so many specialists were required or what they specialize in. Trump apparently was seen by double the number of doctors that he typically saw during his first term. The White House’s memo also does not say why Trump had two CT scans in just six months, something that only happens when there are concerning findings, or why Trump has already had two routine annual” evaluations this year.

Trump has also admitted to taking four times the standard dose of aspirin daily, against medical recommendations, while displaying persistent hand bruising and leg swelling symptoms. When the oldest person ever elected to the White House is displaying unexplained signs of illness, seeing dozens of doctors, and has troubling medical reports and outbursts, the American people deserve answers.

Ranking Member Raskin is demanding that Captain Barbabella comply with the previous request, provide a complete list of all medications and dosages, identify each of the medical providers and their specialty, as well as publicly release the complete results of the recent examination

On April 10, Ranking Member Raskin wrote to Captain Barbabella demanding a comprehensive cognitive and neurological assessment of the President after Trump displayed erratic and what many saw as unhinged conduct. The White House did not provide a response.
