Ranking Member Raskin Demands Jared Kushner Recuse from U.S. Envoy Role in Russia and Iran Conflicts Amid Explosive Reports of Secret Middle Eastern Slush Funds and Phone Hacking by Russian Intelligence Service
After Stonewalling Congressional Inquiries, Trump’s Son-in-Law Must Disclose Foreign Bank Accounts and Foreign Payments
Washington, D.C. (October 30, 2026)—Rep. Jamie Raskin, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, demanded that Jared Kushner immediately recuse himself from Middle East and Ukraine negotiations following explosive reports that President Trump’s son-in-law accessed secret foreign government slush funds while serving in the first Trump White House. Expanding his investigation into Kushner’s foreign entanglements, Ranking Member Raskin demanded financial records to determine whether Kushner accepted foreign payments while wielding American diplomatic power and whether foreign intelligence services obtained blackmail material compromising his ability to represent the U.S. government.
“You are simply unfit to serve in any capacity in the United States government, much less in a capacity that involves interaction with Kings, princes and foreign states. You are clearly unable to conduct any arms-length negotiation with the Russian Federation or have even passing involvement with any diplomatic endeavor that includes the Saudi, Emirati, or Israeli governments—such as the war in Iran. You cannot possibly serve as U.S. diplomat when at least five foreign governments—the Saudis, the Emiratis, the Israelis, the Russians, and even the Dutch—appear to have damning kompromat on you,” wrote Ranking Member Raskin.
According to excerpts of the book “Princes and Thieves” published in Vanity Fair, Kushner’s foreign financial entanglements began during Trump’s first Administration. After he left the White House, Kushner raised billions more from the foreign powers he had courted and done business with in office. The excerpts also detail that Kushner accessed hidden foreign government-funded accounts during his government service, including a slush fund linked to financing proxy wars and another account intended for his personal benefit.
These arrangements raise staggering concerns about criminal corruption, conflicts of interest and violations of the Constitution’s Foreign Emoluments Clause. The reporting also alleges that Russian intelligence hacked Kushner’s phone, potentially giving a hostile foreign power blackmail leverage over a senior American official and close relative of the President. The alleged accounts did not appear in Kushner’s required public financial disclosures.
With Kushner continuing to negotiate on behalf of the United States as “Special Envoy”, Ranking Member Raskin demanded that he immediately recuse himself from negotiations until he can demonstrate that these activities and associations have not compromised him. Raskin also demanded a comprehensive accounting of Kushner’s financial interests and access to bank accounts, including foreign government payments to accounts controlled by Kushner or an immediate family member.
Kushner has stonewalled Judiciary Democrats’ requests for information concerning his corrupt blending of public power and private profit. In April 2026, Ranking Member Raskin demanded records concerning Kushner’s simultaneous work as a U.S. negotiator and head of Affinity Partners, his overwhelmingly foreign-funded investment firm. In August 2026, Ranking Member Raskin expanded the investigation to examine Kushner’s $120 million Albanian land purchase and whether he exploited his proximity to President Trump and his diplomatic role to advance his private business interests. Kushner has responded to neither letter. Today’s letter reiterates both outstanding requests.
