After Trump Administration Shutters Websites for Inspectors General, Judiciary Democrats Launch Resources Page to Empower Whistleblowers to Continue Reporting Government Corruption
Washington, D.C. (October 16, 2025)—Today, House Judiciary Committee Democrats launched a webpage of resources for reporting instances of waste, fraud, abuse and corruption in the federal government after the Trump Administration shut down websites for at least 28 Offices of the Inspector General (OIGs)—the federal government watchdogs who root out corruption and save taxpayers more than $50 billion every year.
“When an Administration works this hard to silence government watchdogs—the officials charged with rooting out waste, fraud, abuse and corruption—you have to ask: what are they trying to hide?” said Ranking Member Raskin. “Well, it seems like almost everything, above all rank corruption and the continuing demolition of most public functions. And now the Trump Administration is using the Republican Shutdown as a cover to shut down the websites of Inspectors General. The money for these websites has already been appropriated and is available right now. We’re demanding that Russ Vought release these funds immediately and stop this blatant cover-up of the rampant corruption and lawlessness that have defined this Administration.”
In an effort to cover up waste, fraud, and corruption in government, on October 1, the White House shut down websites for dozens of OIGs. By shutting down these websites, the White House is preventing the American people from having access to reports detailing OIG findings of this Administration’s waste, fraud, and corruption. The White House’s efforts are also a clear attempt to strip whistleblowers of meaningful avenues to report wrongdoing by the federal government. These actions are a blatant violation of federal law guaranteeing the public’s access to Inspectors General.
The White House decision to take down these websites is not due to the federal government shutdown. The funding for these websites is separately appropriated and not affected by the lapse in appropriations. Instead, it is a deliberate attempt by the Trump Administration to take advantage of confusion caused by the Republican shutdown to undermine government watchdogs and prevent accountability. The shutdown is not the reason for this take-down but just the excuse for it.
House Judiciary Democrats assembled our own webpage to serve as a resource to support the Inspectors Generals’ important work exposing corruption, to ensure the American public's access to reports and findings, and to protect whistleblowers’ ability to contact OIGs to report misconduct. It contains archived snapshots of each OIG website before they were taken down, hotline contact information for each OIG, and details on the status of each site.
The webpage will continue to be updated until all OIG websites are fully restored.
