Ranking Member Raskin’s Statement on the Trump Administration’s Cruel Deportation of a U.S. Child with Cancer
Washington,
March 14, 2025
Washington, D.C. (March 14, 2025)—Today, Rep. Jamie Raskin, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement admonishing the Trump Administration’s heartless deportation of a 10-year-old U.S. citizen recovering from brain cancer: “In Donald Trump’s America, a 10-year-old American citizen recovering from brain cancer can be arrested on her way to an emergency medical check-up and deported to Mexico with her three American siblings because their parents are undocumented. “Now, a sick American child is being denied the necessary and lifesaving treatment she needs. Donald Trump’s reign of terror, chaos and fear has visited a nightmare on a sick child and her Texas family. “Donald Trump and Tom Homan claim the Administration’s mass deportation effort is targeting criminals—‘the worst of the worst.’ Right now it’s targeting innocent and vulnerable American children. “This is not law and order. This is a cruel betrayal of our people. “A child’s life is now at risk due to this Administration’s cruelty and indifference. Donald Trump must immediately end this nightmare and return this family to their country, which is our country.” |
