WASHINGTON, D.C.—House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) today issued the following statement after former President Trump's indictment:

"On its face, this indictment seems methodical and well-reasoned.  Mr. Trump will, of course, have every opportunity to defend himself in court, like every other defendant in the New York judicial system. In our justice system, defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty."
 
"And this matter will play out in the New York criminal justice system, no matter how MAGA Republicans try to obstruct the process.  In a desperate attempt to protect Mr. Trump, the most extreme House Republicans are already trying to bully the law enforcement officers involved.  I do not know how this case will be decided, but I do know that DA Bragg will not be deterred or intimidated by the political stunts Jim Jordan and Kevin McCarthy throw at him."
