Chairman Nadler Announces Legislation for Full Committee MarkupLegislation includes SHOP SAFE Act, MORE Act, CROWN Act, bipartisan package to lower prescription drug costs, and more

Washington, D.C. - Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) announced that Judiciary Committee will hold a full Committee markup on Wednesday, September 29th at 10:00 A.M. "Next week, the Judiciary Committee will hold a markup on a wide array of legislation that will combat the sale of counterfeit products online and limit race-based hair discrimination,” said Chairman Nadler. “The Committee will also consider a bipartisan package of bills that will help lower prescription drug costs by taking on certain anticompetitive practices employed by large pharmaceutical companies, legislation that will decriminalize marijuana federally and invest in communities that have been disproportionately harmed by the War on Drugs, and several private immigration bills. Many of these bills were reported out of the Committee and passed by the full House of Representatives last Congress, and I look forward to working with all my colleagues once again to get these bills through Congress and on to the President’s desk." NOTE: The Committee on the Judiciary is following guidelines developed in consultation with the Office of the Attending Physician (OAP) and the House Sergeant at Arms. Current guidance from the OAP states that wearing of a well-fitted, medical grade, filtration face mask is required when an individual is in an interior space and other individuals are present in all House Office Buildings, the Hall of the House, and House Committee Meetings. The general public will not be allowed to attend in person, however, the markup will be streamed live. |
