Washington, D.C. – Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) released the following statement on President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris executive action on racial equity:
“I applaud President Biden and Vice President Harris for taking a bold step on their first day in office to address racial inequality in our country. This executive order lays the groundwork to fight systemic racism that has permeated through every sector of public life and through policies that help some and leave those most in need behind. Every person in this country deserves to be treated fairly, to have access to a quality education and jobs, and to have a fair shot at achieving the American Dream. This Congress, the House Judiciary Committee will work to protect and strengthen civil rights, to advance police reform and criminal justice reform, and to explore policies of reparatory justice to ensure fair treatment of people of color and other marginalized communities. I look forward to working with President Biden and Vice President Harris on these initiatives.”
