Today, the U.S. House Judiciary Committee issued a minority staff report on, “U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s testimony before the Committee and the Justice Department’s Investigation of national security leaks.” Following the release of this report, Ranking Member John Conyers, Jr. (D-Mich.) issued the following statement: “After months of oversight work, the Minority staff report makes clear that Attorney General Eric Holder did not provide deceptive or misleading testimony to the Judiciary Committee, and cooperated fully with the investigation into his appearance before the Committee. “The House Judiciary Committee has a responsibility to consider the legitimate policy questions raised by recent national security leaks and the Justice Department’s investigation and prosecution of those leaks. It is incumbent upon the Judiciary Committee to consider substantive measures to better balance our national security and freedom of the press. As we close this chapter of our oversight activities, I urge my colleagues to set partisan politics aside and focus on the important work before us.” ### |
