Today House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member John Conyers, Jr. (D-Mich.) commended U.S. Justice Department Attorney General Eric Holder for extending the tenure of FBI Director Robert Mueller for an additional two years.  First nominated by former President George W. Bush on September 4, 2001,  Director Mueller’s 10-year term was set to expire later this year.

“Although I have disagreed with Director Mueller on a number of issues, I am confident that he will continue to work with integrity and respect for Americans’ rights as he ensures the safety of the American people,” said Conyers.  “The nation needs, now as much as at any time in our history, an FBI that is capable of a multifaceted mission to best protect us from a variety of criminal threats, which has been proven under Mueller’s leadership.  I congratulate him on his noteworthy 10-year term and look forward to continuing to work with him.”
