Nadler & Cicilline Applaud FTC, DOJ Review of Merger Guidelines
Washington,
January 20, 2022
Washington, D.C. - Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial, and Administrative Law Chairman David N. Cicilline (D-RI) issued the following joint statement on the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice Antitrust Division's review of corporate merger guidelines: “America has a monopoly problem. For years—across Republican and Democratic Administrations—antitrust enforcement has not kept pace with waves of job-killing mega mergers that have stifled competition, raised prices, and reduced innovation. Strengthening merger enforcement is a critical part of reversing these disastrous trends. We applaud the efforts of Chairwoman Khan and Assistant Attorney General Kanter to update the merger guidelines to tackle this crisis, and we look forward to working with them as Congress considers reforms to modernize the antitrust laws for the 21st Century.” |
